Carlos S. Monsiváis, a graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, Mexico, is a fisheries biologist by profession. He studied Project Management in the United States at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. He enjoys writing about innovation and idea generation. Carlos has worked in the United States, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Taiwan.
In addition, he has received awards for innovation from TREND (Technology Research and Development Center, United States) in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2012. He has also participated as a principal researcher in innovation projects related to aquaculture and fisheries, competing for financial subsidies from the USDA-SBIR (United States Department of Agriculture-Small Business Innovation Research).
During his career, he has written about topics related to tuna-dolphin behavior and association in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. He has also done research studies on the biology and population dynamics of salmon in rivers in the state of Alaska. In addition, he has worked in the government and industrial fishing sectors on cod, herring, halibut, salmon, crab, octopus, squid, shrimp, tuna, and billfish.
